I really appreciate you guys, y’know that? If I didn’t have you faithful readers and sharers and commenters, I would be way less likely to blog. And that would make me way less likely to solidify the things I’m learning. 🙂 If you guys have anything in particular you’d like to see me to write about, do tell! 🙂 I’m always open to suggestions.

Anywho, recently my husband read Ruth out loud to me. As part of our bedtime routine, he often reads a Bible passage to me. We’re currently in the book of Joshua–which is perhaps why this little piece of information really struck me. Did you know that Boaz’s mother was Rahab? Boaz was the guy who married Ruth, a Moabite woman (i.e., NOT an Israelite, i.e., a foreigner). And before marrying her, he took the time to make sure she was safe and had her needs met (Ruth2:8-9, 14-16). Rahab was the prostitute who hid the spies when the Israelites were scouting out Jericho in order to destroy it–also a foreigner (Joshua 2).

Isn’t that such an interesting little jewel? Makes you wonder if part of the reason Boaz saw Ruth as a person with needs and feelings, rather than just a foreigner, had something to do with who his mother was.

I love in Acts 17:26 where it says that God appointed the times and places for the peoples of the earth. God appointed where and when I was born and what circumstances I’m currently in. God appointed where and when you were born and what circumstances you’re currently in. I love the idea that God’s grace is individualized to each of us, that He’s involved in our lives in a personal way–a way that He’s not working in anyone else’s life.

Point being, whatever you’re going through today, it’s on purpose. God can use it–just like He used a foreign prostitute to sire a man who would rescue the mother of Obed (who was the father of Jesse, who was the father of David, who was in the line of Jesus [Matt. 1:1-17]).
